LUNCHABLES: LUNCHABUILDS END CARDS

THE BRIEF

Develop stop-motion end cards for the full-length commercials, highlighting various Lunchables packs and the unique cracker-and-cheese configurations that inspired the VFX. Tailored to regional pack offerings, these end cards will feature fantastical creatures constructed piece-by-piece from the packs' contents, bringing to life a scaled-down, plausible version of the larger-than-life imagined monsters.

From a bucking horse to a fire-breathing hippo-dragon, these creatures vividly capture the boundless creativity and imagination that Lunchables inspire.

MY CONTRIBUTIONS

It's interesting to me that stop-motion appears deceptively simple—just tedious. But after serving as the VFX supervisor on this shoot, collaborating closely with the stop-motion artist and photographer to capture each animal’s components, I can confirm it's far from easy. Working with food adds a unique set of challenges, too. It was fascinating to see both the stop-motion and photography teams bring their own techniques to achieve the desired look.

Once shooting wrapped, I moved onto clean-up and retouching, carefully removing or adjusting components to give each creature character and life as they came together on screen. Initially, I was brought on board because we expected the packaging to be created in 3D. However, a creative decision led us to use approved Lunchables assets instead, shifting the focus toward VFX clean-up rather than animation.
