"They give you one 'atta boy'"

For this student made documentary project I had access to someone who was part of the greatest war the world has ever seen. Eighty years ago, WWII shook the entire planet and my great uncle, William Ambrosio, was right in the middle of it as a naval pilot fighting in the pacific. This project entails the stories and the experiences of him as a pilot, how he came out alive, and what he had to do to maintain one step ahead of the enemy in the air.

To me war history, especially WWII history, is fascinating. The subject matter as a whole, effected so many individuals lives, and I wanted to capture a more personal side. Because there are so few WWII veterans still with us today, I felt the need for this special story to have its opportunity depicted and shared with the world. Since I had a family member that was directly involved, I feel that it was up to me to do this project as tribute to him since he has done many truly incredible feats. This project consists of his time flying only in WWII, and the history behind the campaigns and missions he was involved in.

William Ambrosio passed away January 1st, 2016

This project was a passion project to say the least. It was my first time doing anything on this scale, and I took on all major responsibilities. I conducted the interview, edited the film, wrote the narrative, did the motion graphics, compiled all of the archival footage, and did hours and hours of research to make sure I was able to get everything accurate as if it had just taken place. The most rewarding production I have yet to work on.
